Willis Surface Grinders,
Manual, Automatic, PLC controlled, and CNC Bridge Grinders

           
Designed and built from the highest quality materials and technology available, “Willis” Surface Grinders are able to provide the greatest value for the customer.  In order to suit customers with all grinding applications “Willis Machinery & Tools” offers many different surface grinder models.  Manufactured by “Kent Industrial”, the oldest surface grinder manufacturer in Taiwan, “Willis” Surface Grinders range from 6”x 16” to 36”x 80” in size and are available with manual, automatic, and PLC controls.  “Willis Machinery” also has CNC bridge grinders available for much larger applications.
“Willis” manually operated surface grinders include the 616S & 618 models.  The 616S is equipped with a micro down feed mechanism providing forty millionths increments.  These machines are equipped with ball ways and a cable drive for the table feed. 
                The “Willis” automatic surface grinders include the following:

The automatic grinders are equipped with a hydraulic table feed, electronic cross feed, and incremental down feed.  All feeds are adjustable.  All automatic machines are standard with one “V” and one flat way for the table feed.  On models ranging from the 1632 and smaller, two “V” ways are standard for the cross feed.  These smaller models are saddle type machines.  The automatic models ranging from 2040-3A and larger are traveling column machines with one flat and one “V” way.  All “V” and flat ways are coated with “Turcite”.
                The 818-3A & 1020-3A models include a permanent magnetic chuck, a dust suction/coolant system, and an overhead parallel dresser. The 1224-3A and larger models come standard with an electromagnetic chuck with variable holding power.   The models 1224-3A through 2060-3A are equipped with a paper-filter coolant system.  Overhead parallel dressers are standard on all machines, 818-3A and larger.

Standard equipment for the “Willis” Surface Grinders:

Models 1224 and larger are available as PLC controlled machines with a “Mitsubishi” servo motor and encoder, precision ball screws, manual pulse generator (MPG) hand-wheel, and a programmable down feed.  Optional PLC units provide programmable cross feed, and automatic wheel dressing compensation.
Bridge grinders come with three different table sizes, 60”x 95”, 60”x 126”, and 60”x 165”.  All models feature a 35 inch vertical wheel head travel, 79 inches between columns, 20”x 4” grinding wheel, and a twenty horse power wheel motor.  Optional equipment includes a vertical wheel head with a 14” diameter by 2” wide grinding wheel, 60° left and right swivel, and a 10 horse power wheel motor.
